[Concert Review] BIBI in LA — The Theatrical Chaos We All Signed Up For
The night opened with James Ahn, a rapper and singer signed to Feel Ghood Music who set a thoughtful tone before the chaos of BIBI took over. James performed a song dedicated to “Shasha,” and followed it up with a cinematic track referencing Mia Wallace. What really stood out, though, was how he effortlessly moved between Korean and English, reflecting his bicultural identity. He’s not just a rapper, James is a Harvard and UPenn grad, a former Show Me The Money contestant, and someone who brings both depth and polish to the stage. His voice felt intimate and intentional, and even though most people came for BIBI, he definitely got some new fans that night.
But let’s be honest. The second James left and the lights dimmed again, everyone knew what time it was.
Time for BIBI.
Time for BIBI
The second she stepped on stage, everyone around me was instantly locked in. She told us she was feeling sick but joked around like, “Does anyone want to get sick too?” and honestly, she still looked and sounded amazing.
She did a quick outfit change that literally took under 15 seconds, and everyone around me was screaming. People were saying stuff like, “She’s hilarious,” and “I didn’t even know she was sick, she’s killing it.” That kind of presence is rare.
She started with some cute songs, then switched into her more seductive and sexy tracks after the outfit change. It was like flipping a switch. The props, her body language, the expressions, everything elevated.
Her VCRs were next level. Cinematic, dramatic, and perfectly placed between the songs. One of them was longer than most K-pop concert VCRs I’ve seen, and it had the whole theater holding their breath. Her acting was so good that someone behind me whispered, “Okay, actress BIBI, go off.”
The Whole Package
Her live vocals? Spot-on. Her mic was hot the entire show, and she performed like she was born on that stage. Even during the sexier performances, she kept it tasteful and bold. You could feel the crowd holding their breath during some parts, especially during Sugar Rush (Remix) and Best Lover.
She asked the crowd to vote for their favorite between “Hongdae R&B,” “Real Men,” and “Meat,” and when the crowd yelled “Meat,” she laughed and said, “Ah, I know who you are now.”
One of my favorite moments was when she apologized in advance and said there were no refunds if we didn’t like the show. It was so deadpan and funny.
Moments That Stuck
She ran off stage and came back within seconds, fully changed and ready to go. I didn’t even realize until that moment that YouTube Theater was fully packed.
She performed Apocalypse and went heavy on the fan interaction, throwing finger hearts, blowing kisses, giving eye contact. And then came another VCR that tied into the story. It was basically like watching a movie unfold, complete with new outfits and character moments. When she returned with angel wings and the same dress from the last song, the flow of the whole concert made even more sense.
Then came Vengeance, and the crowd lost it. Her vocals somehow got even stronger as the night went on. She eventually walked into the crowd, giving high touches and real face-to-face fan love.
She picked one guy and serenaded him during Best Lover, had the whole crowd screaming, gave him a signed album and Polaroid. That moment was pure BIBI! Funny, seductive, and unexpectedly sweet.
BIBI the Stand-Up Comedian?
One of the highlights was her whole crowd banter section about “extraordinary jobs.” She walked around asking fans what they did for work, and it turned into a full comedy routine.
Some of the standout answers:
“I make bikinis.”
“I’m a drag queen.”
“I work in cyber security.”
“I’m a trust fund baby.”
To which he also continued to say, “Can you be my sugar mommy?”
Someone even shouted out that they are working at Trump’s golf course. It was chaotic and hilarious. Like watching a variety show unfold mid-concert. She handled the mic like a seasoned comic.
Closing Out
She ended the main set with Kazino, then told us her last song would be Binu, her first song ever. After a brief break, she came back for the encore and wrapped up with Eat My Love, a perfect, bright ending to a wild, emotional, and hilarious night.
BIBI’s the real deal. She gave us vocals, visuals, acting, comedy, and heart. If you ever get a chance to see her live, don’t hesitate.
And if for some reason you don’t love the show?
She already said it: no refunds.
