After spending time figuring out what kind of music she wanted to make, 200 (EBACK) has found a project that feels like her.
The artist released her first solo EP, Battle Bunny Crossbow, on October 21, giving listeners nine tracks that offer a closer look at her creative world. The release follows “OMAKASE,” her collaboration with 88rising, and marks a new chapter for an artist also known as a member of SIKKOO.
For 200, the EP represents more than her first solo project. It’s a collection she holds close after a period of searching for her musical identity.
“Battle Bunny Crossbow is an album I hold really close to my heart,” she told The Mikan Box. “I spent a long time feeling lost, trying to figure out what kind of music I wanted to make. This was the first project that made me think, ‘This feels like me.’”
A Project Built Around Her Influences
On Battle Bunny Crossbow, 200 looked to the music her generation grew up with, including K-pop and SeeU’s “Hide and Seek,” and reinterpreted those influences in her own way. She also brought personal lyrics and storytelling into the project, sampled CHEATKEY’s voice, and paid homage to their toplines.
“I tried to let go of the limits I’d put on myself and share as much of what I wanted to make and express as possible,” she said.
The nine-track release includes “#fyp,” “ding dong,” and “It Girl,” along with collaborations featuring k4ton, Koo Min-jae, Doeun, Millham, and KANGHYUK.
For listeners who first discovered 200 through “OMAKASE,” the EP is a chance to hear another side of the artist. While the single brought her together with 88rising, Battle Bunny Crossbow gave her space to explore what she wanted to create as a solo artist.
Bringing the Full 100 Percent
Working on her own also meant approaching the creative process differently than she does with SIKKOO.
“The biggest difference is that, as a solo artist, I have to bring the full 100 percent myself,” she said. “In a group, the three of us make up that 100 percent together.”
While the group can lean on one another’s strengths, 200 said her solo project gave her more freedom, along with a greater sense of responsibility.
Even with her first EP out in the world, she sees Battle Bunny Crossbow as an introduction to what she hopes to share next.
“I’m still figuring out exactly what that looks like, but I hope you’ll hear it as a little teaser of what I want to show you moving forward,” she said.
