Seeing wave to earth live at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles was honestly such a different concert experience compared to most shows I’ve been to, but in the best way possible.
The entire night felt intimate, relaxing, and chill. Their music already feels perfect for summer walks, late-night drives, hanging out with friends, or that moment when you first start falling in love with someone. Hearing those songs live somehow made that feeling even stronger.
There were moments throughout the night when their music almost made memories flash through my head. I think that’s one of the things that makes wave to earth’s music so special. Their songs have a way of attaching themselves to moments in your life, and hearing them live brings all of those feelings back at once.
A Crowd That Was Actually Present
Something I really loved about this concert was the atmosphere of the audience.
Everyone seemed completely present in the moment. There weren’t people trying to overpower the music, and it didn’t feel like everyone was watching the entire concert through their phones. Instead, it genuinely felt like the crowd was taking in wave to earth and allowing themselves to enjoy the music.
With how beautiful the Greek Theatre already is, that atmosphere made the concert feel even more intimate. It wasn’t a night that needed massive production or nonstop effects. The music and the setting were enough.
Wait... Did wave to earth Just Do the “67” Meme?
One of my biggest takeaways from the night, though, was getting to see more of the members’ personalities. They were unexpectedly funny.
In the middle of the set, John Cha and Dong Q started teaching the audience a supposedly “Korean” word: “YAHO!” Daniel immediately called them out and said it was actually Japanese, which made the whole interaction even funnier.
John then explained that Koreans are apparently obsessed with saying it right now, comparing it to how everyone says “67.”
And then somehow, Daniel and John BOTH started doing the 67 hand gestures.
I genuinely never thought there would be a moment in my life where I would see members of wave to earth doing 67 with their hands, so that image is permanently engraved into my brain.
It became one of those completely random and wholesome concert moments that you’re probably going to remember much longer than you expect.
A Bittersweet Reason to See Them Now
The members also mentioned that this would probably be their last tour for a few years because of upcoming military service.
That gave the night a slightly different feeling. If wave to earth is coming anywhere near your area on this tour, take that as your sign to see them while you still can. We don’t know exactly how long it will be before fans get another opportunity to experience them live like this again.
The Perfect Summer Night
Overall, wave to earth at the Greek Theatre was such a wholesome and memorable concert.
What stood out wasn’t huge production or crazy effects. It was the music, the atmosphere, and getting to experience more of the members’ personalities in such a comfortable setting.
If you already love wave to earth’s music, seeing them live at least once is absolutely worth it. The best way I can describe the night is that it felt like spending a summer evening listening to your favorite songs with thousands of friends around you. 🫶🏻
