JAY B Makes His tape- roots Tour Feel Personal in Los Angeles
Seeing JAY B on his tape: roots Tour at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles was such a fun and memorable experience from beginning to end.
He started the night with a killer opening that immediately got the entire crowd hyped. Everyone was jumping, screaming, and matching his energy from the start. 🔥 He kept that momentum going throughout the show, but what I really liked was how he mixed slower songs between the more energetic performances. It gave the concert a nice balance and allowed different sides of him as a performer to come through.
And, of course, his vocals were impeccable.
Hearing JAY B live reminded me exactly why he is one of GOT7’s main vocalists. His voice sounded strong and controlled whether he was performing the more energetic songs or slowing things down for the emotional tracks. There were definitely moments where I had to stop and appreciate just how good he sounded live. 🎤💚
A Concert That Felt Like Catching Up With a Friend
What made this show stand out the most, though, was JAY B’s interaction with the audience.
Between sets of songs, he would take time to actually talk to everyone instead of immediately moving into the next performance. It genuinely felt like he was having conversations with the crowd. He made jokes, reacted to fans, and showed off a naturally funny side of his personality.
Audience members would shout random phrases or even full sentences at him, and instead of ignoring them, he would actually respond. His replies regularly had the entire venue laughing, making those breaks feel personal and spontaneous rather than like scripted transitions between songs.
He even gave the Los Angeles crowd a few little spoilers about his music, but I’m not going to ruin any of that for anyone attending the upcoming stops. 👀 You’ll just have to hear it from him yourself.
There were a few GOT7-related comments too, but again, no spoilers here. If you want to know, you better go to the next stop hahaha.
The best way I can describe the atmosphere is that it felt like JAY B was everyone’s friend who they hadn’t seen in a while, and the entire venue was catching up with him. One minute, he would be talking and joking with the audience like we were all friends. The next, he would switch right back into performer mode.
Even during the songs, he found ways to keep that intimacy going. There were moments where he would sing while holding eye contact with individual people in the audience, and you could literally see fans having their own little main-character moments with him.
Some lucky fans even got to keep the towels he used to wipe off his sweat during the show, which, as you can probably imagine, had people losing it. 😭
The Encore Brought JAY B Into the Crowd
But the encore was easily one of my favorite parts of the entire night.
JAY B made his way down the aisles of the Wilshire Ebell Theatre and took time to interact with fans up close. He looked at people, gave high fives, held hands, and made sure fans throughout the venue had a chance to have their own little moment with him.
It didn’t matter if you were sitting farther back thinking there was no chance you would ever see him up close. He literally came to you.
And somehow, I ended up getting my own moment too. 😭💚
When JAY B came down my aisle, he locked eyes with me, we held hands, and then he gave me a DOUBLE TAKE.
I genuinely do not think that moment is ever leaving my brain.
After spending years watching his performances, videos, and vlogs, going all the way back to his GOT7 days, actually seeing him right in front of me and having that tiny interaction felt surreal.
It was genuinely my K-drama moment. 😭
As funny as that moment was for me personally, it also captured what worked so well about the concert as a whole. Even if you were sitting farther away and assumed you wouldn’t have the same experience as someone near the stage, JAY B consistently found ways to make the entire venue feel included.
His fan interactions, personality, humor, live vocals, and willingness to spend so much time simply talking with the audience made the night feel much more personal than just watching someone perform from a stage.
More Than Just the Performances
By the end of the night, the tape: roots Tour felt like a combination of a concert and simply hanging out with JAY B.
There were the high-energy performances and slower, more intimate songs, but there were also hilarious conversations, little spoilers, spontaneous reactions, and genuine interactions between JAY B and the people who came to see him.
That balance is ultimately what made the Los Angeles stop so memorable for me.
So, if JAY B is coming to your city next, GO.
And if you can get an aisle seat... I’m just saying, you might want to do it. 👀
