[Exclusive Interview] YOUHA Talks 88rising, Festival Firsts, and What She Wants Fans to Feel at HITC LA 2025

A New Chapter with 88rising

If you’ve been watching K-pop’s rising stars, YOUHA should be on your radar. The singer, songwriter, and producer has written for LOONA, STAYC, and TRI.BE while building her own dreamy, emotionally rich sound. Now she’s entering a bold new chapter with 88rising—and making her US festival debut at Head In The Clouds LA 2025.

With recent collaborations like “body” with Warren Hue and a remix of Jackson Wang’s “GBAD,” YOUHA is stepping out globally, one vibey track at a time. We caught up with her ahead of HITC to talk about what this moment means, the power of collaboration, and what fans can expect from her set.

Who is YOUHA?

Based in Korea, YOUHA blends elegance with edge. Known for introspective bangers like “Last Dance” and “Universe,” she’s also got the range to craft earworms for K-pop’s biggest names. Now, backed by 88rising, she’s ready to take her sound to a global stage.

The Interview

Joining 88rising has opened new doors—and brought her full circle.

You recently joined 88rising and have already been part of some exciting collaborations, including “body” with Warren Hue and “GBAD (Remix)” with MILLI. What has it been like stepping into this new chapter with 88rising, and how has it influenced your creative direction?

“Just being able to do this work is a huge honor. Starting with 88rising and getting to create music with artists I’ve admired since I was a kid—it’s exciting every single time. I’m genuinely thrilled that the music I make will reach people all around the world through 88rising.”

Manifesting the Stage

YOUHA dreamed of performing at HITC—literally.

This will be your debut at Head In The Clouds LA and your first official US festival appearance. How does it feel to join this year’s lineup, and what are you most excited to share with a new audience?

“After watching the HITC stage in 2023, I told myself, ‘One day, I’m going to be up there.’ I even wrote it in my diary—and now, here I am. Dream come true. I feel incredibly lucky, and I can’t wait to share this joy with everyone. I’ve been working so hard for this. Let’s make HITC unforgettable together!”

From Behind the Scenes to Center Stage

You have written and produced for artists like LOONA, STAYC, and TRI.BE, while also building your own distinct sound. How do you balance working behind the scenes with stepping into the spotlight as a soloist?

“At first, I wasn’t sure what kind of work would bring me true happiness. But now I know—it’s this. Through music I love, I get to share pieces of myself with all of you. Whether it’s my own stories or helping other artists express theirs, it feels like magic.”

The Setlist That Says It All

Fans love the emotional depth and elegance in your songs, from “Last Dance” to “Universe.” Is there a track in your upcoming HITC set that feels especially personal to perform live?

“This is my first big festival stage ever—so I poured my heart into building a setlist that truly represents me. I want it to be fun, emotional, and unforgettable. Creating this music brought me so much joy, and I hope you feel that energy too.”

Languages, Culture, and Sonic Curiosity

Your Japanese version of “In the End We’re Just” really connected with listeners. Do you see yourself exploring more multilingual songs or experimenting with different sounds in the future?

“I love music that blends different languages and cultures. One song I’m obsessed with is ‘Shutcho’ by Doja Cat featuring the South African a cappella group, The Joy—it blew me away. I want to keep collaborating with artists from all over the world and dive deeper into traditional music from different countries.”

Bucket List Energy

While you're in LA, is there anything you’re hoping to do, eat, or experience while you're here?

“I’ve got a few things on my U.S. bucket list: trying a Five Guys burger, watching a crazy Vegas show, and seeing the Grand Canyon in real life. LA already gives me so much hope and inspiration—it feels like anything is possible here.”

Turning First-Timers into Fans

For anyone discovering you for the first time at HITC, what do you hope they remember or feel after seeing your set?

“My goal? To turn everyone into a fan. I’ve poured everything into this performance—no holding back. I’m ready to go all out and get the whole crowd jumping. Let’s make some noise!!”

A Final Message

Do you have a message for fans, whether they’ve been following you since “Island” or are just now tuning in?

“Above all, I just want to share good energy with you. No matter where this journey takes me, I promise you won’t regret supporting me. To everyone who’s been with me—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Let’s keep walking this path together.”
